Another Halloween has come and gone

Picking a weather appropriate costume in North Texas is a tricking business. You never know if it will be 89 degrees and humid or cold and rainy. One year it was so hot, that chocolate candy melted and our neighbor passed out bottles of cold water. This year was a perfect cool Autumn evening. The kids only needed to wear a long sleeve shirt under their costumes.

My little trickster wanted to be a knight this year. He picked out the pattern and the fabric and I started making the costume early. The pattern was just a basic tunic, but I added a shield/lion crest and a red velvet cape with fleur de lis clasps. I also fashioned some black boot spates for him to wear over his shoes. Not to forget the sword and shield, I drilled holes in his bucket and shield and added a slot for the sword. Tada instant carry all. Mommy was not only handy with a needle but a drill too.

He had a great time and loved his costume.
