Tick Tock, Tick Tock, Tick Tock
When I was a little girl I don’t remember clocks in the house. I’m sure there were clocks, I just don’t remember any, except one. It was a brown rectangular clock with glow in the dark numbers that flipped as the minutes and hours passed. I would sit in front of it mesmerized by the minutes flipping by. There was an endless amount time to be counted, but where has it gone?
Now I’m sitting in the same house listening to the minutes tick by on a clock. I sit here in the quiet as the clock ticks and my father’s time is winding down. The cancer has spread to his liver and it is just a matter of time before he ceases to function.

Big Sky
As much as I love living in a big city, one of the things missing is wide open sky.
While I am not happy about living on our hill, the view is wonderful. Our house towers above our neighbors, I'm afraid friends and kids will fall down the stairs, the trek to the mailbox is a workout, and sometimes we scrap the bottom of the cars on the steep driveway. But, the view with it's wide open skies, beautiful sunsets and storms rolling in are awe inspiring.

In the city of BA you are living in side by side apartments where sun shinning into the home is rare.
Don't get me wrong, the city abounds with green spaces, parks and plazas.
Without a personal outdoor space a city dweller is forced to go out, unlike a suburbanite that stays in their backyard. The cities is alive with people enjoying communal space, and it is marvelous.

Spiky Hair
I love my son's mop top, not to long, not to short, just a little messy. Today he asserted his desire to have spiky hair. So off we go to see the gal that cuts his hair. He hopped up on the jet plane seat and told her "I want my hair just like yours", Ms Leta has very short spiky black hair with blond tips. She was very flattered but only agreed to the hair cut and not the dye job, thank goodness.

Another Halloween has come and gone
Picking a weather appropriate costume in North Texas is a tricking business. You never know if it will be 89 degrees and humid or cold and rainy. One year it was so hot, that chocolate candy melted and our neighbor passed out bottles of cold water. This year was a perfect cool Autumn evening. The kids only needed to wear a long sleeve shirt under their costumes.
My little trickster wanted to be a knight this year. He picked out the pattern and the fabric and I started making the costume early. The pattern was just a basic tunic, but I added a shield/lion crest and a red velvet cape with fleur de lis clasps. I also fashioned some black boot spates for him to wear over his shoes. Not to forget the sword and shield, I drilled holes in his bucket and shield and added a slot for the sword. Tada instant carry all. Mommy was not only handy with a needle but a drill too.
He had a great time and loved his costume.
